Mindful Monday

I am a bold fellow
As ever was seen,
With my shield of yellow,
And my blade of green.

You may uproot me
From field and lane;
Trample me, cut me,
I spring up again.

I never flinch, sir,
Wherever I dwell;
Give me an inch, sir,
I'll soon take an ell.

Drive me from the garden
In anger and pride,
I'll thrive and harden
By the roadside.

Not a bit fearful,
Showing my face,
Always so cheerful,
In every place.

Earth Day Visitation

Yesterday was Earth Day, though I must admit, we have been so busy that I didn't even know it was up and coming.  However, as it happened, we had a pretty big Earth Day celebration!

Around the corner from Groundwell Farm, there is another farm working toward goals similar to ours.  They call the farm: Shut Up and Grow It.  There are a few year round residents and many passers through.  For the past few weeks they've been having a work party so, many temporary residents have come from all over the country to help and to learn.

Mindful Monday

To see a world in a grain of sand
And heaven in a wild flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour.

Spring Salad Symphony

Oh glorious spring!!

There are few things I love better than a good spring salad, and I think an awful lot of you out there would be happy to agree with me.  A comment the other day though made me wonder if we are all thinking of the same thing when we say "spring salad".  I've here told you all before that I'm lousy with lettuce, so I depend on a wide variety of both wild and tame salady plants to fulfill my craving.

The Lovage of My Life

I think spring is finally really here!  It shows up everywhere.  Everything at Groundwell is budding out and brightening up, and right along with it the workload is ramping up.  There's been so much going on lately that I hardly have time to think, let alone write.  So this morning I just wanted to drop you all a quick note showing off some of the glories of my spring.
Who'd think Sassafrass buds could be so lovely?

Mindful Monday

The world is so full of a number of things,
I'm sure we should all be as happy as kings.
